Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates the tool. That provider processes the request and supplies its result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a person sends an email, we retain the message as needed to answer it. The content remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Routine technical details reach our servers when a page loads. They may include:
- Page-view dates, times, and visit length
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed during the visit
- A referring website, when one supplied the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a visitor's device. Along with analytics services, they help us understand aggregate traffic, including popular pages and points where visits end. A browser can block cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Thayer County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes reference information about requests to the Thayer County sheriff and courts, the Nebraska State Patrol repository, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not turned into a record about another person or a consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there falls under the selected provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider determines how long it retains data and when it shares data, and those choices are outside our control. Review the provider's terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Thayer County government site, Nebraska courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. The destination's privacy rules govern after a visitor follows one of those links. Read those rules before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be available to:
- A search partner that receives a query
- An advertising network serving an ad
- An analytics provider measuring traffic and performance
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security practices help protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with a visitor's location and the law that applies. Nebraska's Security, Privacy, and Dissemination of Criminal History Information Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §29-3501 et seq., governs covered criminal-history information, while the Nebraska Public Records Statutes, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, govern access to public-agency records. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of personal information we hold
- Ask what personal information we have about that visitor
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of processing where the governing law provides that choice
